East Rift Valley Seasonal Flavor Train – “Mountain Mist”
Event theme | Valley Flavor Train Sanlan!
Event time | 3/19~8/31
Event Location | Chia Lion Travel Agency
Activity content | The Hualien County Government, together with the Taiwan Lohas Sustainability Association, Taiwan Railways and Lion Travel, launched a new sightseeing train “Shanlan”.
Shanlan, named “Valley Flavor”, is Taiwan’s first sightseeing train that runs exclusively in the Hualien-Taitung Valley. It inherits the successful railway tourism model of the previous “Sea Breeze”. Through the interweaving of the four elements of trains, scenery, food and culture, it brings passengers a new immersive five-sense experience.
The exterior of “Shanlan” is mainly yellow-green, symbolizing the greenery and harvest beauty of the Hualien-Taitung Valley; the interior adopts a panoramic floor-to-ceiling window design, allowing passengers to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the valley while traveling. The train runs from Hualien Station to Chihshang Station in Taitung. It stops at Shoufeng, Yuli and Fuli on the way out, and stops at Dongli, Fenglin and Fengtian on the way back. Passengers will experience local walking tours in Yuli and Fenglin. In addition, when the train passes through the “Kecheng Railway Bridge”, it will slow down especially, allowing passengers to appreciate the pastoral beauty of rice fields and mountains, further demonstrating the core spirit of Hualien’s “slow tourism”.
